So this is going to be a bit of a different post than my other board games day reviews. Friend and I headed down to my brother’s place for board games day on Father’s day weekend. It was a bit of a revolving door of players so I’m not going to record wins or anything like that. We also played 12 games from 11:00 am Saturday to 3:00 am Sunday (yep – 16 hours!) and then another three as a family later on Sunday. That’s just too many reviews! As always, I’ll link to Board Game Geek so you can read more about them there.
Father’s Day Board Games
Day Weekend Roundup!
So many games!
Can’t believe we never played Carcassonne in the group before…
I wanted to play a ‘travel around the ‘verse doing jobs’ game. In our group that means Firefly or Merchants and Marauders. Firefly it was.
Dead of Winter
We lost this co-operative game so hard.
DC Deck Building
Cranium Turbo Edition
And then there were two…
Love the art on Sushi Go. One of those games I play just because I like looking at it. (But I like playing it, too!)
Tiny Epic Galaxies
Oops. Forgot to take a photo. In my defense, it was getting late. Here’s one from another day.
DC Deck Building Round 2…
I picked Waterworks because I didn’t even remember it being on our list of owned games (it belongs to Friend) and I wanted to know what it was all about. It was pretty good!
Then I slept for a few hours and then it was Father’s Day. We played just three games, but two of them were pretty long.
Memoir ’44 – Juno Beach
This was a new-to-me Memoir ’44 scenario and I wanted to play it out, just a few days after D-Day. Dad and I played Canada (and won!); Tristan and mum were the Nazis, and rightly lost. Nazis are evil. (review)
Merchants and Marauders
Ticket to Ride Europe
Ticket to Ride is Dad’s favourite game, therefore it was fitting that it was the last game. And that he won.
This was such a fun weekend! No board games day now until the end of August. I guess we made up for the games we won’t play in July.
