We are half way through our list of 7 lessons learned from travel and photography. This week, we’ll stop, take a break, and reflect on where we are.
Lesson 4: Reflect
Last week, you learned all about the history of the place you are visiting. But what is the point of learning all of that, if you don’t don’t take a minute to stop and reflect on where you are and what you know about the place?
Whether you are standing on a battlefield or in the middle of Piccadilly Circus, you need to reflect on the place you are at. You may have waited your entire life to go to Disneyland. You might never be there again and you don’t want to have wasted all that time with a camera in front of your face and no time actually being in the place. I spend a lot (like, seriously, it’s not good how much I spend!) on a trip. I might make twenty bucks off the photos I take there. They are not the most important part of being there.
Take time sit and reflect… on being there “I made it!” … on the history “what was it like for those men?” … on the future “what will this place look like the next time I come?”.
Where is your favourite place for reflection?
