Just a quickie… I loved my other theme, but it looked a bit hard to read.  I thought I’d try this one.  What do you think?  Do you like it be better?  Is it easier to read?  Or was the other one not even ‘broke’?  Looking forward to your thoughts!

So… what’s going on with me lately?  Too much!!

First, let’s talk about the fun stuff. I’ve posted a new progress photo for my Fairy Idyll cross stitch piece.  That will probably be last progress of any sort until December

I’m still taking part in my (free) Social Media and Open Education course – which this week was really interesting and dealt with Digital Storytelling, check out my last post for more information on that – and my Web design course (the homework for which I should be doing right now instead of writing this!).  I was suppose to do a Photography course through the Photographic Society of America, but the textbook I’ve only been able to find on Ebay.  I have just purchased it, though I’m still deciding if I just want to work through the book on my own, or take the course.  I’ll probably take a look at the book in November or December (more than likely December!) and figure it out.  (worried about the portrait unit – don’t really like taking pics of other people so I want to see what the exercises are before I commit)

On Tuesday I start volunteering weekly with Junior Achievement’s Company Program.  I was a volunteer advisor two years ago, but skipped last year, as I was too busy.  Somehow I decided that this year I was LESS busy?  Not sure what I was thinking when I agreed to that! lol Anyway, it’s a great program!  Hopefully we have a great year! Yeah… I haven’t been posting much lately. It seems every time I think I’ve caught up… I haven’t. And I seem to just keep adding more stuff to the list! In September I’ll be starting a Web Design course and a Photography course. Yesterday I also started my own version of a Project 365. Project 365 is a daily photography challenge, but I may change it up a bit… make it more of a general creative challenge rather than just photography. I might have writing, or maybe a banner I created… whatever… as long as it’s creative and I did it in one day. You can find that at Aurora 365 (a link is also in the menu on the right).

You’ll noticed I changed the theme up here a little bit.  I got bored of the other one.  I wish this one had more of an ‘aurora borealis’ background.  Perhaps when I have some time (HAH!) I’ll make one.   I’ve been getting a few photos and a couple of pieces of cross stitch together for exhibition which will be happening in about a week and a half.  I was going to post somethign on the KISS concert I went to a few weeks ago, but it was so long ago now I don’t think anyone cares. lol Basically it was awesome and I was in the front row and it was totally worth it.

Lots of projects in the works… revamping my photo site (I’m going to change all the watermarks… even though I love them so… to something a bit more not in your face), and I’ve just purchased Adobe Lightroom so I’ll be having fun organizing my thousands of photos in there for a while!

Alright, so, first things first.  The important stuff… Dad arrived back in the province over the weekend and came home yesterday.  He’ll have a nurse for a bit and not sure when he’ll be able to go back to work, but he seems to be doing well.

Yesterday I finaly joined the iPhone cult.   Already got several apps from the app store and some custom ring tones.  But I’m so broke at a time when I really need money! lol  Fan Days is looking so yummy, too with flights under $600.  As for the iPhone, not sure that I’ll be using it as my iPod or anything as  I have a great mp3 player already.  However, I may make an exception when I go away so that I don’t have to bring that extra device with me and all it’s ’stuff’.  So far I’m really liking it!  It was iPhone or Blackberry and the iPhone really only won out because of the bigger screen and (more…)

Another weekend, another weekly round up!

Visitors to my Photography section will now notice a BIG change!  I really wasn’t happy with the photo gallery I originally chose when I moved over to this new host.  I’ve since found a theme I like much better.  Hopefully you all will too.  I welcome comments on it!

I haven’t escaped the cold computer lab of job #2 for long as I’ll be starting back at the job on Tuesday.   woo!  It’s just for a couple of days ever other week, but the money will be very helpful and I did quite enjoy the work.

Last update for this week… I added a little drabble “Love” that is still open to viewing by the general public for a few more days.  Just check out the creative corner section of my site to read it.   Comments welcome!

Hope everyone has a great Easter if you celebrate it.

While searching through all those writing links, I came across a few challenge sites and this morning wrote a couple of short pieces for them.  “Tradgedy” a Drabble, and “Listen Up Because This is Important”… not a drabble, but still pretty short.  I submitted stuff to a couple of other sites, but nothing new.

Both of these are actually open to view by guests for now.  When I reply to these sites’ challenges next week these ones will get hidden back for registered users only.

I’ve also started participating in “6 words” and “one sentence” sites, but those are so short I’ll just add stuff when I have a bunch to post.

Finally, I just posted a video of pics I took while I was in Grand Centre, Alberta last summer.  A proper account of my trip will come… some day. lol

Alright gang, the Photography section of the site is now online!  You can access it from the links on the side, and also through a link in the Creative Corner section.

That means the website is “complete” (again).  Of course there will always be changes and reasons to stop by.  I’ll be posting new stuff as I have time to work on my other hobbies and post updates here.  Tweaking and playing with the look and options and extra stuff.  Subscribe to my site if you’re interested in keeping uptodate with my postings.  You can also check out my twitter and Facebook feeds as I’ll announce there when I update as well.

Enjoy the site and please feel free to post comments!  All sections except the cross stitch area are comment enabled and if you feel so incined to comment on the stitching, feel free to use the guestbook/wall at the bottom of the main page or comment on the appropriate update blog posting.

Just a bit of a heads up that made a few changes to the sidebar here.  *points to the right*

I redid the site menu (“Aurora’s Space”) to provide direct links to the other sections of my site instead of pointing you to a page where you had to click on another link.

I removed all the “Sites I love” links.  They’re all bookmarked at del.icio.us so go to my “Links” page and use the ‘cloud’ to find whatever you might be looking for, or peruse what I’m interested in.  You can also visit my del.icio.us profile from there and search my links a bit easier that way.

Finally, I removed the section that had areas to register etc.  Registration is only required for the “creative corner” so I didn’t want to confuse people by having too many places to register or log in!

If  you want to be advised of updates, scroll to the bottom of the sidebar and use the ’subscribe’ feature.

Hopefully this makes things slightly less confusing!

Just a quick heads up that the ‘writing’ section of The Creative Corner is now up to do date with all my past writtings.  This is now the only place you can find all of my writing in the same place!

Now I’ll just be updating it as I write more.  Hopefully that will be soon.

Just a quick not to say… I got my muse on!!

After quite a long vacation the muses have returned and I’ve posted a fic The Coffee Mug in the Creative Corner.  Got some other projects in the works as well.

I thought it would never come back!  So I’m pretty stoked.
