Leadership/Mentorship Development Program – Electives

DSC_4567The offered electives for the Leadership/Mentorship Development Program have been determined and the list with more details follows.  The fee for each module/course is $60+textbooks as required.  These modules are open to everyone, though spaces will be reserved for program participants.  This post will be updated with links to individual posts as more details are determined.

Helping Others to Work Collaboratively Course
The workplace is an environment that utilizes both social and professional relationships.  In this course the learner will examine the elements that contribute to a work environment that supports collaboration.

The Workplace: Enhancing the Quality of Work Life Course
The purpose of this course is to provide the learner with a foundation of understanding and a general overview of the concepts of creating a healthy work place.   Examine the components that create a healthy work environment including professional and social relationship building and creating a safe and productive work environment.  Explore the concepts of: appropriate working relationships, supporting co-workers and professional growth.  Define, as it relates to the ECE work environment: critical thinking skills, professional development, cultural diversity and the respectful workplace.

Dealing with Problems and Conflict Course
This course will provide the learner with a foundation of understanding and a general overview of the concepts of dealing with problems and conflict.

Grant Proposal Writing Course
This course is structured to allow learners the opportunity to be introduced to the general concepts related to effective grant and proposal writing.

Wellness Planning Course
Learners will have demonstrated the ability to Identify signs and symptoms of stress and burnout.  Describe the impact of stress burnout and wellness on the individual in the early education team.  Develop a personal wellness plan.  Demonstrate respectful, appropriate professional behavior and effective interpersonal interactions with others in the learning environment in accordance with their industry as well as the protocol outlined in NSCC Great Expectations.  Demonstrate authentic engagement in reflective activities for personal awareness and growth.

Mentorship Course
Define mentorship and discuss its value in the profession.  Identify the responsibilities of a mentor and a mentee.  Identify the role you could play as a mentor in the industry and reflect on how that role can enhance social and professional relationships in the workplace.  Demonstrate authentic engagement in reflective activities for personal awareness and growth.

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Course
Participants will learn how to prepare and manage aggressive situations safely.
