He kissed me and it was like no other kiss he’d ever given me before. I felt his hands on my lower back through the thin cotton of my dress and I wrapped my arms around his neck and stood on my toes to kiss him back. I didn’t even noticed the others until I heard them hoot and holler as they walked toward us. I felt my cheeks flush and broke the kiss. We said our goodbyes and John locked his bike up to a tree. We kissed once more, promised we would write each other every day and then he left; I watched him walk away until the forest swallowed him up.
(Another excerpt from the upcoming Anthology our writing group is working on. ”Not Forgotten”. I posted another excerpt a while ago here. That was the beginning of the story, though it’s completely changed now.)
