Today I’m in the city spending a night away from home and relaxing. I’m here for PodCamp Halifax 2011 but the weekend has been a long time coming. Between the peaceful hours-long bus ride, the quiet hotel room and a bit of shopping it’s a nice break from home!
There’s nothing I look forward to more when my work day is dragging than my bus ride home. It’s a two hour trip home with one change. When I’m tired or not feeling well, I find my favourite seat, pull my hood up, lean against the ‘wall’ (my fave seats are not next to windows) and go to sleep. Somehow, I have pretty much never missed my stop. (In seven years I have twice woken up as we pulled up to the stop but didn’t miss it, and once woken up as we passed it and got off at the next one, which was also kinda my stop – my destination was in the middle).
I definitely was looking forward to this today, although I forced myself to read my book for a bit before succumbing to sleep.
Day 314
While sitting in my nice, new writing nook, writing in my journal, I looked out the window and saw this birds nest in the pine tree :)
Day 315
Time to finally get to that Dallas trip (that I went on in October)
Day 148 & 149 was posted to posterus while I was in Halifax.
Day 150
I spent yesterday on Day 1 of travelling around with my boss to visit centres in our area promoting Literacy Day. I didn’t post this photo last night because I wasn’t feeling well and slept most of the night.
Day 151
The books I bought on Saturday.
The Tower of London, W. H. Ainsworth, c. 1940
New Arabian Nights, R. L. Stevenson, c. 1940
Domesday Book, Edgar Lee Masters, c. 1920 (not very interesting to look at, but looked like an interesting read when I looked through it)
The Swiss Family Robinson, Johann Wyss, c. 1954 (not in great condition, but I liked the cover :) )
One of the spiders living in between my windows. And I know this is a bit late, but I forgot to post it yesterday :(
(also, about the tags, I know a spider is not actually an animal, but didn’t want to make a new tag for it :P )
Time Capsule
8 October 1998
Jerusalem. 11 years ago this week I was in Cyprus (so I’m sure you’ll be seeing a few more photos from the trip over the next few days). While there we took a short cruise which included a day in Israel. We visited Bethlehem and Jerusalem. One day was entirely NOT enough time. I’m not sure I’ll ever get a chance to go back though. :(
Welcome
