Time Capsule – November 20

Posted in Time Capsule on November 20th, 2013 by Aurora

So, on 20 November 2011, I went to see a Harry Potter movie.  It was the only HP movie I’ve seen in the theatre.  Here are a few messages I posted on Twitter about it through the day.

Who You Gonna Call?

Who You Gonna Call?

The Stay Puft Marshmallow man at Hal-Con.  A Ghostbusters Cos player brought his own Staf Puft guy.  He was really good! (The cos player, not SP.)  He even brought a bunch of invoices for ghostbusting.  Invoices to Hal-Con, The Jedi Council, The Federation, The Empire, etc. and gave them to other cos players.

Time Capsule – June 20

Posted in Time Capsule on June 20th, 2013 by Aurora

There were nicer photos from “June 20ths past” but the point of a Time Capsule is to try and tell a story, so that’s why I chose this photo for today.

Bon Jovi Live in Cologne!

About half way through my time in Germany, I learned something. It’s super easy to jump on a train and go to a concert. Once I learned that, I scoured the local concert listings for good shows.

This was Bon Jovi’s One Wild Night show.

Jason Dohring and Francis Capra

While in England in 2009 I attended this Veronica Mars panel featuring Jason Dohring (Logan) and Francis Capra (Weevil). Given the new movie hype, I thought this was worth posting.

Aurora 365 V. 2 Day 12

Posted in Photography on August 13th, 2011 by Aurora

Tonight I attended the Moonlight Concert in Paradise, as I try to do most every year when it’s held in August, as a fundraiser for the local community hall.  Rumours have it that there were approximately 700 people in attendance!  This included a new couple from Pennsylvania who were married that afternoon.  One of the band members proposed to his girl after the second set :)  This is a Big Band concert with the Annapolis Big Band, featuring Donna-Lynne Holmes.  It’s always a GREAT time.  Entrance cost is a free will donation and they sell 50/50 tickets (tonight it went for over $450… and I didn’t win! *pout*).

If you’re in the area next August you simply MUST try and visit!  You never know who will be there :)  This is the first time we’ve had a couple come here from their wedding and one year there were even a group of very good swing dancers in the audience!

The event is held on a beautiful estate and people bring their own chairs and often even picnics.  Some go all out and wear nice clothes and bring a fold up table with a table cloth, full spread and champagne.  And don’t forget the candles

It was a wonderfully warm evening with a mostly clear sky.  Even the moon cooperated and came out nice and full!

Had a great time at the RCMP Musical Ride tonight.  Even if it was POURING.  I blame the weather on my poor photos :(

Non-Wallpaper Wallpaper – 48/365

Posted in Favourite Things on February 17th, 2011 by Aurora

My TV room is almost totally wallpapered in posters.  Most of the decor is Star Wars – posters, ads, postcards, sketch cards, most of a Vader video display and some atrwork printed out from the net.

There’s also some generic art, book, beer and music advertisements a few Buffy/Angel posters, a hockey poster, a framed National Geographic issue and some funny infographics printed from the net.  I once had a lot of generic movie posters from video stores but have gotten rid of them all except a Dark Knight poster (actually an art print) and a Snake Eyes poster (kept only because it’s in German).  There are a couple of art prints from my travels, a collage of my photography and a couple of cross stitch pieces.  Finally, I have a Military component including photos of aircraft and some battle and mission maps.

It all needs to be presented a bit nicer, but that costs money that I don’t have :(
