The bleachers on the last day of Exhibition.
Tonight I attended the Moonlight Concert in Paradise, as I try to do most every year when it’s held in August, as a fundraiser for the local community hall. Rumours have it that there were approximately 700 people in attendance! This included a new couple from Pennsylvania who were married that afternoon. One of the band members proposed to his girl after the second set :) This is a Big Band concert with the Annapolis Big Band, featuring Donna-Lynne Holmes. It’s always a GREAT time. Entrance cost is a free will donation and they sell 50/50 tickets (tonight it went for over $450… and I didn’t win! *pout*).
If you’re in the area next August you simply MUST try and visit! You never know who will be there :) This is the first time we’ve had a couple come here from their wedding and one year there were even a group of very good swing dancers in the audience!
The event is held on a beautiful estate and people bring their own chairs and often even picnics. Some go all out and wear nice clothes and bring a fold up table with a table cloth, full spread and champagne. And don’t forget the candles
It was a wonderfully warm evening with a mostly clear sky. Even the moon cooperated and came out nice and full!
Had a great time at the RCMP Musical Ride tonight. Even if it was POURING. I blame the weather on my poor photos :(
My TV room is almost totally wallpapered in posters. Most of the decor is Star Wars – posters, ads, postcards, sketch cards, most of a Vader video display and some atrwork printed out from the net.
There’s also some generic art, book, beer and music advertisements a few Buffy/Angel posters, a hockey poster, a framed National Geographic issue and some funny infographics printed from the net. I once had a lot of generic movie posters from video stores but have gotten rid of them all except a Dark Knight poster (actually an art print) and a Snake Eyes poster (kept only because it’s in German). There are a couple of art prints from my travels, a collage of my photography and a couple of cross stitch pieces. Finally, I have a Military component including photos of aircraft and some battle and mission maps.
It all needs to be presented a bit nicer, but that costs money that I don’t have :(
Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-Ray
Fox Video (September 27, 2011)
Genre: Sci-Fi
I want to: Buy the whole set, new of course!
Includes all six movies plus three discs/30 hours of bonus footage. That’s the real reason I want this (I don’t even have a player yet!). There haven’t really been a lot of good extras on the DVD releases so far, so I’m really looking forward to this! (Also, I only have PM on video still lol)
Anyone else? Why? Just to re-buy the movies or for the extras?
I kinda wish I could buy the extras on their own and skip the others!
One of my favourite shows when I lived in Germany was Time Team, from the Channel 4 in the UK. I even joined the ‘fan club’ thingy they had for the show. The last time I saw it was Summer of 2001 before we moved back to Canada. I had a few episodes recorded from the TV to watch, but eventually the tapes got tossed and I was forever again without my favourite Archaeology show.
Last week, almost a full decade after I last saw it, I discovered it on a Canadian channel! Hurrah for TVO! It’s been on that channel for a year so it’s sad that I’ve missed that many shows when I could have been watching it, but hopefully I’ll end up seeing them all in repeats or something and some point.
Has this ever happened to you?
Lots of numbers in the title of this post, sorry!
But this is my second weekly project. This one based on a hidden project on the 52 Projects website. I’m not going to post a link directly to it; you should go explore the site and try and find it yourself :P Also, it’s hidden so it will take me a while to find. lol The project is to document a typical “day in the life”. I say I have three ‘typical’ days in my life: work days (sometimes with volunteering in the evening), cross stitch days and days at home when I work on other projects. I decided to only bore you with two of these days. A cross stitch day and a work day. Though in retrospect an at-home “other project” day would have been more interesting. lol I still have holes in my project schedule for the year, so perhaps I’ll go back and do that in the future if I need a project.
I’m also not going to bore you with the play by play, just the summary. And a final note: this also turned out to not be a ‘typical day’. One of my dogs is ill and spending the weekend at the vet. :(
A “Cross Stitching” Day in the Life
Out of bed at 0915
After I’m all ready to meet the day I get on the PC and quickly check email and twitter and my Google Reader. For the Reader I cleared out the posts/articles I wasn’t interested in and saved things I wanted to read or listen to for another day.
By 1000 I’m in my stitching chair. I’m a multi-tasker, so this involves watching DVDs that need to be sent back, chatting with a friend on IM though the miracle of wireless keyboards and screen resolution adjustments and, of course, cross stitching. I have a lot of interruptions this morning because the family has taken Winston to the vet again and Kes, my other dog, is not happy. I give up stitching for the time being, get some breakfast, play with the pup, chat with the family about the diagnosis Winston has received (not good :( ) and then visit the library (to pick up a Sookie Stackhouse book I had on hold) and post office (to return the DVDs that I did manage to watch).
About 1215, things have finally settled down and again I’m stitching, chatting and clearing out the programs I PVR’d during the week. We receive updates and options from the vet through the afternoon.
About 1615 we leave to take the bus into town. Our other baby – one of our cars – needs to be rescued from its doctor. We do a bit of shopping and eat out as no one really wants to cook anyway.
Home again and in my stitching chair resuming the afternoon’s activities by 1940. I’ll spend the rest of the night like that until about…
0100 when, though I’m not tired, I decide to pack up and head to bed.
I’m asleep by 0130.
What’s a typical fun day like for you?
Welcome
